市民サミットのメイン会場（コンベンションセンター）から離れた会場での開催となった
ため人が集まるのか不安であったが、ほぼ満席となりホットした。
まず最初に、５月に千葉県幕張メッセで行った９条世界会議の様子を１５分間ほど
上映し、その後各発言者が報告を行った。
As this event was being held away from the main venue of the Peoples Summit (the Convention Centre), we were worried about whether there would be many participants, but we were relieved to see almost all seats in the room full!
The first part of this session was a presentation of a DVD showing the Global Article 9 Conference to Abolish War, which was held in Japan this May, followed by presentations from each of the speakers.

７月７日（火）午後７時よりＬプラザ環境研修室で開催されるグローバル９条キャンペーン／ピースボート主催の「Ｇ８に９条を！９条世界会議報告とディスカッション」の詳細が決まりました。以下のような内容です。

G8サミット 市民フォーラム北海道企画 「G8に９条を！」

今年５月に開催され、世界42カ国から３万人が集まった「９条世界会議」。

戦争のない世界に向けて人々は動き始めています。
「９条世界会議」の報告ビデオ上映のほか、「９条を世界でどういかすか」をテーマにディスカッションを行います。

Global Article 9 Conference Statement to the G8 Summit / Ｇ８に対する９条世界会議声明

This statement was issued at the Global Article 9 Conference to Abolish War, calling for a the G8 countries, who together make up 70% of the world’s military expenditure, to reduce the money spent on arms and redirect resources to peace, development and the environment. We also call for a change in the methods of dealing with issues such as conflicts and “terrorism”. This statement was initially drafted by the Japanese Organising Committee, and was announced after obtaining the support of key international participants and supporters. This statement will be delivered to the countries of the G8 at the People’s Summit in Sapporo this coming July.

世界の軍事費の７０パーセントを支出しているＧ８諸国に対して軍事費の大幅削減と平和・開発・環境への転換を求めた声明です。世界の国々に対して紛争や 「テロ」問題への対処法を変えることを求めています。日本実行委員会により起草され、主要海外参加者の賛同署名を得て発表されました。７月の北海道洞爺湖 サミットの前に、札幌での「オルタナティブ・サミット」などを通じてＧ８諸国に届けられます。

Global Article 9 Conference

The “Global Article 9 Conference to Abolish War” was held in Japan from May 4-6, 2008.

This three-day event attracted over 33,000 participants nationwide: over 22,000 in Tokyo, 8,000 in Osaka, 2,000 in Hiroshima and 1,000 in Sendai. Close to 200 international guest speakers and participants came from 40 different countries and regions to represent all continents at the conference.

With the participation of Nobel Peace Laureates, intellectuals, cultural figures and NGO activists, the conference has been a forum for dialogue and discussions on the role that citizens of the world can play to realize the principles of Article 9, through promoting disarmament, demilitarization and a culture of peace.
